    One of the last board tracks to shut down was the 1.25 mile Altoona Speedway in Tipton, Pa. Opening in 1923, the 32 degree banked oval held 19 AAA races. Louis Meyer was the leader with 4 victories at the track that also counted Jimmy Murphy, Peter DePaolo and Frank Lockhart among it’s notable winners.
