    Art Cross (born 24 Jan 1918 Jersey City, New Jersey; died 15 Apr 2005 La Porte, Indiana). Worked as a heavy equipment operator for 20 years. Retired to run his farm with wife Margaret and raise their family, but sadly both died within a few weeks of each other in 2005. Cross retired from racing quite suddenly in 1955, whilst at his peak, and despite many requests, never did return.
