    Atco Speedway opened in 1950 as a 3/8 mile dirt track oval speedway. The surface was paved after the completion of the 1954 racing season. Atco closed, never to re-open in 1958.

    Englishtown Raceway Park, NJ was never a 1/16 th the track I think your talking about was Old Bridge Speedway off Rt 9. this track ran stock cars and the drags 1/16 th. closed in the mid to late 60's. E-town start in 63 or 64 and is still going strong. plus there was a track up in Warren County by the fairgounds.

    Atco Dragway was the first official drag strip in New Jersey, originally opening in sleepy Waterford Township in 1960 as Atco Raceway. For decades, it drew professional racers and amateur motorheads alike, with some events bringing thousands of spectators to the Atco section of this mostly wooded Camden County community of 10,707.

    History ATCO was founded in 1947, by S. Don Southern who gave a minority stake to his son Ron Southern, under the name Alberta Trailer Hire, renting fifteen utility trailers in the Calgary area. As the company's operations grew, they also began to sell trailers, first becoming the Alberta Trailer Company, then ATCO.
