Sampling — Blender Manual

    https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/render/cycles/render_settings/sampling.html
Render ‣ Sampling. The integrator is the rendering algorithm used to compute the lighting. Cycles currently supports a path tracing integrator with direct light sampling. It works well for various lighting setups, but is not as suitable for caustics and some other complex lighting situations. Rays are traced from the camera into the scene, bouncing around until they find a light source …

Path Tracing Sample in the viewport - Blender Stack Exchange

    https://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/81940/path-tracing-sample-in-the-viewport
Show activity on this post. When I activate the shading Rendered in the viewport, the number for path tracing sample keeps going with a single number. The number of the last sample is usually listed but it is not the case in the file I imported from a site. I checked the render settings and the number of samples for the preview is set to 0, the ...

Cycles render showing path tracing tile only and not samples

    https://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/120406/cycles-render-showing-path-tracing-tile-only-and-not-samples
I can tell by the time taken that my samples render and preview values are factoring in, but it does not show while rendering. Instead it displays the path tracing tile value which is set to 135 somehow (how is that calculated). My square samples is turned off too. How do i get it to show me samples count while its rendering?

Understanding Path Tracing • Blender 3D Architect

    https://www.blender3darchitect.com/light-and-rendering/understanding-path-tracing/
Understanding Path Tracing. You probably have already seen at the Blender interface something related to a word called “Path Tracing”. What is it exactly? This is the main algorithm used by Cycles to compute light on your architectural visualization projects, and not only by Cycles! A lot of renderers use Path Tracing as their main render ...

Cycles is using Path-tracing-Tile instead of Sample - Stack Exchange

    https://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/141275/cycles-is-using-path-tracing-tile-instead-of-sample
The number of samples is not the number of tiles being rendered. 8 samples will give you a very noisy image. Read: How to avoid noisy renders in Cycles? What you see as orange squares are tiles being rendered. By default blender doesn't render the whole image, but it splits it in tiles to maximize the resources on your computer.

Cycles viewport rendering stuck at Path Tracing Sample 1/32 with …

With Blender 2.82, 2.83, 2.90.1 I have sucessfully made a wiewport render with driver 20.4.2 and 20.5.2 but with these combinations, more hundred weird pixels appeared in the wiewport, so it became more and more noisy while was rendered in higher and higher samples. ... Branched path tracing with high samples sometimes causes …

    https://developer.blender.org/T80142
Using branched path tracing mode with high samples, the render starts but finishes really quick and results a transparent image. But using path tracing mode with the same amount of samples (or even more) , it works fine. Using branched path tracing mode with a fairly low samples can still work. It has noting to do with the resolution of the image. I changed the …

Eary September 26, 2021, 9:55am #2. Actually, You can consider adaptive sampling to be a automatic branched path tracing. In branched path tracing you assign different samples to different kinds of materials, in the end that is assigning different sample counts to different part of the image. Adaptive sampling is doing roughly the same thing, but better.
