Lybarger raced the car in SCCA Nationals and Midwest Council events from 1977 to 1982 but actual data on his race history is sparse. He scored two points in CenDiv Formula B in 1977, representing Iowa Region, and finished fourth in class at Road America in September.

Brian used to trek cross-country to race in different divisions and would always stop to visit our friend Bob Lybarger. Two years in a row I crewed for Brian at the June Sprints where, when racing was finished, we’d set sail with Captain Morgan at Siebken’s Resort in downtown Elkhart Lake.
