Longitudinal Seismic Bracing Options for CPVC?

As best I can tell there's no listed bracing method for longitudinal seismic bracing for CPVC. Traditionally we've addressed this by placing a tee with a short pipe stub perpendicular to a main and braced that perpendicular pipe with a "lateral" brace, which acts longitudinally on the main. The downside to this is that it's not concentric to the main, but it's pretty close.

Seismic Restraint/Bracing for 1-1/2" CPVC Main?

There is 1-1/2" CPVC pipe running down the corridor with 1" branches going into each suite. I'm using NFPA-13 (2013). Does the 1-1/2" pipe in the corridor count as a cross-main, and thus require seismic restraint, or can it be omitted given its small size? If it does require restraint, would a Tolco 3000 clamp, 909 brace fitting, and 1" shed 10 ...

But there is no longitudinal bracing for CPVC so you have to do a short arm over and put a lateral brace to act as longitudinal. If Cp is <0.5 then you can omit since you are <6" from top of pipe to point of attachment to structure. At least using those hangers you can omit branch line restraint regardless of Cp.

Brush CPVC primer on the outside of the pipe and inside of the fitting about 2 inches deep. Immediately apply a light layer of CPVC cement to the area that is primed outside the pipe and inside the fitting. Slide and twist the pieces together then hold them together firmly for 30 seconds.

CPVC is not as tough as copper or galvanized steel. Take care not to strike it with a hammer, and be sure to use steel nail plates in wall framing if a nail or screw puncture is a possibility. Because of its flexibility (which can be an asset), you’ll need to support it more often than copper or galvanized steel-every 32 to 36 in.
