The standard fueling is capable up until this point, although it's worth watching the afr's and egt's if you were going to top speed it. Many CA18ET's have been killed by top speeding, and normally number 3 piston end's up holed. After then it's better to swap to CA18DET or SR20DET power. 1962 Ford Thunderbird 6.4L.

Just get all the ancilliaries off. Obviously detach it from the gearbox and lift it out. Whip the head and sump off so you can point and laugh at whats melted this time. Get yourself a second hand SR block, some SR pistons, SR crank, rods and bearings etc. Put them all in the block, and put an SR sump on it.

Ca18det vs. Sr20det - Nissan 4 Cyl Forum - HybridZ

A little headwork goes a long way. This motor is much more torque biased, and can spool big turbos reasonably quick. Stock VS Stock, the SR is a full second faster in the 1/4 mile than the CA. The SR20DET can make 400hp dependably on all stock internals (I did it).
