The Cal 29 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim. It has a masthead sloop rig, an internally-mounted spade-type rudder and a fixed fin keel. It displaces 8,000 lb (3,629 kg) and carries 3,350 lb (1,520 kg) of ballast. The boat has a draft of 4.50 ft (1.37 m) with the standard keel fitted.

Calgan basic stole the Cal 29 design made it into the Crown 28 but it never got lit up enough against the 29 for some reason. Calgan went on to the Crown 34, very similar to the Peterson Ganbare, then designer/buider did the Sceptre 36 and then the Sceptre 41. All of the Crown 34's had chronic blister because how they were laminated.
