We bought some original, Bruce Slicks for the 58 Impala to use at Lions Dragstrip from 58 on to early 1960. But, in 1960, they were used strictly on our Willys build. After our 1960 671 SBC Willys accident, the Bruce Slicks were solely for use on the 58 modified Impala. For street use, I had to pick and choose when to run them.

    - You won't be able to use nearwhere all the grip (that a warm slick has) so it's waste of a good tire - if you ride hard enough to do that on the street, you need a reality check before you kill yourself. - You will most likely not get the temperature up to optimal so you won't really have that much grip.

Call me an idiot but.... running slicks on the street question

    https://www.stevesnovasite.com/threads/call-me-an-idiot-but-running-slicks-on-the-street-question.75006/
There is a reason why they are not street legal, they really are not safe for street use, as in if you hit water, you're sliding, and they have a soft compound so they will wear out faster. Rocks, potholes, glass and other stuff that wont puncture a radial tire will have a better chance geting through a slick.

Do you need a spool if you run slicks? | Maverick/Comet …

    http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/do-you-need-a-spool-if-you-run-slicks.74298/
Without any type of spool or some kind of limited slip you will be doing one wheel burnouts. And even with a limited slip that does not always guarantee you will not still do a one wheel burnout...I've been there and done that. A mini spool would be the most cost effective way to lock up the rearend for racing. Gene Fiore, Jan 5, 2011 #2

It’s also no secret that drag slicks are designed to operate with low (4-12 PSI) operating pressure. Lower tire pressures such as this will flatten the contact area, which in turn, increases the size of the tire footprint. The larger footprint resists shearing forces, which in turn allows the car to hook and of course, have a lower 60-foot time.

How long will a set of drag slicks last?

    https://help.summitracing.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/668/~/how-long-will-a-set-of-drag-slicks-last%3F
When a drag car launches off the line, the tires absorb a tremendous amount of stress. This stress will eventually cause the carcass material to break down. The carcass of the tire can sometimes start to break down while there is still plenty of tread on the tire. When your 60 and 330 foot times start to slip and become more inconsistent ...
