Bob Elsner became the third two-time Canadian Champion on the ice oval track that year. Following 1980’s successful attempt at snow track racing, CPTC decided to eliminate the ice track and go back to snow. Mother Nature decided to prove what a mistake that would be. Unfortunately, snow does not hold up nearly as well as ice under warm conditions.
