Meek started racing in motorcycles, before moving to Formula 3. He also raced in sportscars, Formula Junior and Formula Atlantic, but arguably his greatest triumph as a racer was winning the 1971 BRSCC Northern Formula Ford title. A larger-than-life character, Chris owned (albeit not at once) over 40 Ferrari sports road cars in his lifetime.

Chris became a Full Member of the BRDC 20 years ago in 1996 and had just been accepted as a Life Member. After racing motor cycles in the mid ‘50s, Chris began racing on four wheels in 500cc Formula 3 with a car which he christened the Meek Empress, its first recorded appearance being at Chris’s local circuit of Brough in 1956.
