The ‘Soul’ type of rider is now much more inclined to ride 29″ wheels, and we have the SolarisMAX in the range for that. It’s basically the 29″ wheel Soul in a lot of ways. That’s certainly how it was originally conceived. And those riders preferring the lively 27.5″ wheel tend to be a little more rowdy, so they gravitate towards the BFe.

The Soul is designed around the latest 27.5 x 2.6" wide trail tyres, with clearance to spare even with this monster rubber installed. 27.5" wheels are lighter, livelier and easier to accelerates than 29" or 27.5Plus wheels, with a more interactive feel. This is at the expense of slightly less stability and easy rollover on rockier, bumpier terrain.

Cotic Soul Longshot frameset review | off-road.cc

Cotic's Soul trail hardtail has a rich history and somewhat of a cult following, but this fifth-generation model brings it bang up to date with stretched-out 'Longshot' geometry and all mod cons, despite the retro skinny steel looks. It's extremely versatile, hugely capable and a proper hoot to ride, though a steeper seat angle would really help it shine on climbs.
