D-1 A (frame) bracing pattern - The Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum

My plan was to build a 00 using sinker cedar for the top and I couldn't decide whether to use Martin style A frame bracing like my 00-15 or more conventional X- brace with tone bars. The advice here was to go with modified A-frame like D-16 with two tone bars and also two finger braces on each side. Oh, I also used Paduck for the back and sides ...

The d1-A frame specs listed are the same as the 15 series. The 15 and 16 series are similar in that they both employ the A frame, but the hybrid X bracing on the 16 series is closer to Martin's standard bracing, with scalloping added. In the pics above, the left is the 16 series hybrid, the right is the 15 series bracing. They are quite different.

Martin A frame bracing - the next big thing? - Acoustic Guitar Forum

The early D-1 and D-1R used it, as did subsequent 15 Series and 17 Series guitars. The 17 Series dropped the A Frame bracing with the new 2016 models and now pairs the Simple Dovetail with traditional bracing. As far as I know, that leaves only the 15 Series using the A Frame bracing - as far as Nazareth-made Martins are concerned.

The D-1 looks like it’s made totally from mahogany wood and finished with a paper-thin coat of lacquer sealer. In fact, Martin says the D-1 uses “a special cross link finish… extremely thin, to optimize tone.” The typical dreadnought features apply – 20 frets on an 251/2″ scale, 14 frets clear of the body, etc.

Notice that there are fewer braces and the cross braces are tapered quite thin at the ends for good flexibility at the edges of the top. This lightweight bracing pattern gives the 1-series a terrific bass response, but because there are no diagonal braces, slightly less complexity of tone, especially in the treble range.

THE THE BOBOTTTOMTOM LLINEINE Martins - Mulhern

Martin has in- augurated a new, patent-pending neck-to-body mortise joint which incor- porates an “A-Frame” pattern of bracing that ties directly into a laminated alder neck block, adding support to the soundhole area. A buttress exten- sion designed to enhance structural support of the fingerboard is incorpor- ated into the neck block, too.

This pattern is also sometimes referred to as Hybrid A Frame bracing, although this is much less common. No matter what you call it, Martin's Hybrid bracing retains the A shape and the lack of side tone bars from the A Frame bracing pattern while also utilizing the same tone bars placement below the bridge plate as is found on an X braced guitar.

Martin D-2R - Harmony Central

    https://www.harmonycentral.com/reviews/review/345908-martin-d-2r/
All 1 Series guitars were produced with a low profile neck, mortise & tenon neck joint, ply neck and tail blocks and a new internal bracing pattern called "A-Frame" X Bracing. This new bracing was lighter than traditional X bracing due to using less tone bars in the lower bout. It worked exceptionally well and kept the top flat.
