It's dead because SEGA bailed out on the game and just decided to leave it, even though they hyped it up alot before its release. I think the main 2 reasons to why online is dead because first, the matchmaking system is a disaster, there are no private lobbies, bots are compulsory.

I'm in the UK. I've never played this game, but I have heard from several other players, no matter what platform you're using or what region you're from, that barely anybody has even been playing this online at all, not even at launch. yepruni it is dead, mostly because they did not care to fix the game.

Cant believe SONY don't investigate before, if a game that people will try to play online, actually works. the issue is the search time. it only looks for an available room for 2-3 seconds, and then just creates a lobby. just needs a really basic patch increasing the search time to a higher value.
