Car numbers must be extremely legible and of a contrasting color. For endurance races that run into darkness, a small light such as those used to illuminate license plates above the car number will help Timing and Scoring see the car number, as will reflective car numbers. Remember that it is even harder to see a car number at night.

You’ll need a minimum of two drivers for most events, and it’s wise to have a couple of crew guys as part of the team. Get people on your team that knows what end of a screwdriver to use and can think clearly at 3:19 am when a wheel bearing starts to disintegrate. The engine must keep its original location, direction and positioning. However, it can be moved back for cars when at least 2,500 units are produced during 12 consecutive months. As opposed to the “Pro” class, “Am” refers to the GTE class reserved for gentlemen drivers.

The car would need to add 50lbs. of ballast to reach the minimum. Suspension and aerodynamic modifiers add to the adjusted displacement of a vehicle. Shocks with more than a single adjustment, remote reservoirs or modified spring perches carry a 0.5L addition. Adding a splitter or a rear wing each carry an addition of 0.25L.
