Very few folks know how, but the answer is YES! The answer is a gigantic “YES” when dealing with the 2.7 – 3.3 liter “looper” family of engines. Dave Bush racing can (and will) work on anything outboard related. As it stands right now, I don’t know of any group that is making more power out of the looper OMCs.

I believe it was standard on the 3-cylinder OMC from '78 on. I'm looking for the same outboard myself, but I have a tilt bracket so I might opt for one without if I get a better price. I'd like one for the favorable power-weight ratio. Being the highest output for a 3-cylinder I think the 70-75hp are perfect for my Starcraft.

The 3cylinder engines have unique running qualities, you can not really compare them to other models in the line up. The do idle "differently", which some might interpret as a "bad idle". These engines are surely not going to have the mid range power of the V4s, but might outrun them at WOT in some cases.
