Footbrake Staging Technique - Yellow Bullet Forums

I noticed some footbrakers set launch rpm once pre-staged or sometimes even earlier while approaching the beams. So I tried it out the last couple races and while it does slow the process down, bumping in while on the converter with a BBF that puts down some torque is not that easy. Curious to hear what works for some of you guys.

The same things hold true for either foot-brake cars or transbrakeequipped cars. Tire diameter can adjust your 60-foot times, but also affects your reaction times, so you need to compromise to achieve the best-possible front tire for you and your car. Since it is hard to adjust the driver sometimes, a differentdiameter front tire is the best way.

foot brake racing - Don Terrill’s Speed-Talk

Put better brakes on the same car and you may be able to stall it up to 2500 RPM before it starts to creep forward. With a strong engine, 5500+ stall and great brakes, you would be able to stall much higher. But still at some point the converter will begin to lock up and the brakes will no longer hold.

inproving reaction time on a footbrake launch - RacingJunk

You're barely above idle, that means that once you release the brake and nail the gas, your car has to wind up and shock the tires to move forward. the best way to leave on the foot brake is have the car preloaded, with as much as you can hold with the brakes, this way the car is already to leave when you release the brake. Making the Left Foot Brake – RacingJunk News

    https://www.racingjunk.com/news/making-the-left-foot-brake/
This is one of the less important racing techniques, and is often learned later in a racer’s career, since right foot braking is more easily done for most. However, left-foot braking is a means of shaving tenths off a lap time. More than that, it aids in attitude adjustments for which right-foot braking simply doesn’t allow.
