For the Giant Trance X with Maestro suspension you don't really need anything else but the simple Fox Float R. I have the RP23 on a different bike and it would be wasted on this bike. I do periodic maintenance to this shock, pump it up and ride. I check the pressure every 6 months but it never seems to loose air.

I have a shock pump for my forks and it comes in handy owning the Fox Float R. It's lost about 5psi over the last three weeks and numerous rides. If that's the extent of the leak I'm overall very happy with this shock. The weight alone is worth every penny, the performance is awesome!
