Bracing on all Gibson Acoustics - Gibson Brands Forums

The Gibson bracing 'X' is approximately 1 1/2 inches from the sound hole. Forward shifted bracing is only about an inch. The wider angle of the AJ style bracing accomplishes the same kind of thing as forward bracing creating more end at the bottom. zombywoof All Access 9.5k Posted September 14, 2014

It was set at .095"; the blueprint called for .125".

J-35, circa 1941 -- or so I understand the scalloped bracing and French heel would suggest . Its string spacing and nut width -- 3 3/8" and 1.72", respectively -- are unusually wide for such a late J-35. Impressive, the braces look thin & light and heavily scalloped. replacs 1,713 872 1 Registered Member Jun 06, 2013 #177

The Martins have 5/16" bracing heavily scalloped and Gibsons have 1/4" bracing (actually a bit less) with a strong V-shape to the braces that are only lightly tapered towards the sides. Then I think that Martins have the x a bit wider than on the Gibsons and in general the x-braces cross closer to sound-hole so that leaves the x-brace crossing the bridge only on the …

why am i obsessed with ladder bracing? - Gibson Brands …

    https://forum.gibson.com/topic/23871-why-am-i-obsessed-with-ladder-bracing/
Gibson made few ladder braced guitars. The L00s from the 30s were X braced. The very first L1 flat tops (Robert Johnson) guitar had a style of ladder bracing, but some of the later of this body style were also X braced. The Kalamzoo branded Gibsons are ladder braced. The LG 1, LG0 are also ladder braced guitars built in the 50s and 60s.
