May 4, 2007 #1 For those of you that have had your racing stripes over the top installed professionally, how much did it cost? I called two local places and both quoted me $200-$250 for the install alone if I provide the stripes. Mind you the stripes themselves are under $150. For some reason this seems rather high to me.

But I'm on the fence about it because it because every shop I've gone to around my area is charging anywhere from $550-$650 to the stripes and the install. I'm trying to avoid installing it myself because it's a pain in the ass but I didn't expect it to cost that much. I can get the stripes myself for a little over $100.

Depending on how you want to do it, painting them can be $1000 or more. Biggest question to ask yourself is, do you want your car completely re-clear coated, so you cannot feel the ridge from the painted stripe? if so, it will need to be sanded to remove/rough up the existing clear, stripes painted, and the entire car clear coated.

$80 bucks for the stripe kit and installed myself. I have been putting stripes and graphics on my own cars for 15 years. It is not hard just takes patients. The vinyl easily lasts 10 years when parked out side and when they get to shabby it's easy to get off and redo or do something else.

I was quoted $700-$800 to have my boss 302 stripe kit installed. I was able to find a sign shop that does the decals for my local PD. he quoted me $180 for install but their was a wait list if 4 weeks. Ended up installing them my self with no problems. Took me about 4 hours, would have been done faster if I had help.
