    Autolite also suggest to not adjust the gap more than 0.008" in either direction, however, Autolite's don't come with cardboard or plastic gap protectors and I found a couple that were 0.020" out of the box. I went ahead and opened mine to 0.040", and they were fine on the dyno with 11:1 comp. Agree, i like mine at 040 gap also.
