So defeating the Ruby Weapon is an easy* method to gain a gold chocobo without having to do the tedious racing. *Easy is very subjective here, I couldn't do it without KOTOR which you can only obtain AFTER the GC Which makes that gold chocobo a catch 22. You need the Gold Chocobo to get KOTR, and you need KOTR to get the Gold Chocobo!

the racing isn't that bad, just hold the shoulder buttons, and press square. you only need to win like 4 races for the initial parents, IIRC 8 for the second set and then like 12 for the last, but by then you have uber chocobos. Just go to choco sage and get sylkis greens. Armor won't help the heart stay sharp.
