Locally the J-92 does very well in PHRF - it's a solid boat, fast upwind, fast downwind, good at reaching - seems like it has a nice rating at 105. The J-92"S" isn't quite as successful, but I don't know much about their program.

The J/92s is a bunch of tweaks on the J/92. I think IRC probably treats the mods more favorably than PHRF. The "s" is a dog in light-air venues, since the wide shroud base precludes overlapping headsails. As others observed, the boat gets its best upwind VMG by keeping the bow down. The keel provides very good lift.
