    Motor racing driver and car constructor. Born John Benjamin Heath in Weybridge, Surrey, England, he started racing after WW2 with great success in a supercharged 2-litre Alta. He also built an HW-Alta sportscar in which he came second in the 1949 French Grand Prix at Comminges. He won the 1949 Manx Cup Race on the Isle of Man.

After John Heath's fatal accident at the 1956 Mille Miglia George Abecassis retired from racing to spend more time with Hersham & Walton Motors, who ended racing the following year.

    A native Long Islander who spent much of his time in France, he won the first Vanderbilt Cup race in 1904 driving a Panhard and was retroactively awarded the 1904 National Championship in 1951.
