Drifting in the MR2 is the same as any other car out there. The main difference is that you must be smarter in what you do in regards to throttle\brake\steering inputs. As soon as the back end begins to come out, you must react with gentle gas and immediate countersteer.

mr2s have tremendous rear end grip too, so whilst they are sideways in their narrow angle with foot to floor they are very fast which would be good, but not much angle to be had before spinnage so not gonna be competitive at a high level. by all means though if you have one then drift it, will be fun for sure. dangerous perhaps, but fun

FR format cars are much easier to drift because they have a larger moment of inertia. mid engined cars have a much lower moment of inertia so they tend to rotate faster. great for track and autocross driving, bad for drifting. MRs are best described as "nervous" when sliding, where as FRs are much much much more forgiving.

But bottomline, MR2s are terrible cars to drift in. The 43/57 weight ratio isn't much to work with when taking part in a "sport" involving perfect balance for the most part. MR2s are excellent road course race cars though... hop in a stock MR2 and hit the track, you'll be amazed at what this car was meant to do.

MR2...drift Car ??? | Driftworks Forum

The MR2 is difficult to drift, but not impossible. The MR layout does work against you when transferring between drifts. You also can't drift at the extreme angles of a FR. With practice it is possible to catch, but its is fairly unforgiving. The other car's that people have suggested would be far easier to learn in. #7 SidewaysRob, Feb 13, 2005
