    You got it backwards. When the tires are spinning forwards, the axle is counteracting, which wants to go backwards, or the pinion is going up. Therefore the bottom of the axle is going towords the front of the truck, which in turn is putting compression on the bars, not tension. My traction bars are 1.5" in diameter solid, and about 5 ft long.
