This is the best description of this item that we could find: On 29 August 1962 Pukekohe Borough Council held a special meeting on the proposed use of the racecourse for motor racing. A sealed racetrack was then built outside the horse-racing track, and the inaugural New Zealand Grand Prix was run on 5 January 1963.

Pukekohe Park Raceway is still a popular venue for motorsport, and was upgraded in 2012-2013. The image is an aerial view of the first Grand Prix meeting in 1963. The inner light- coloured horse-racing track can be seen, and the black motor-racing track, with the hairpin and long back straight is also clearly visible.
