Castlereagh (near Penrith) Racing NSW is the statutory body for horse racing in NSW and owns a number of properties across the state as part of its Equine Welfare Program. Our Castlereagh property is used for retraining and rehoming thoroughbred horses after their racing careers and includes 137 acres of paddocks and equine infrastructure.

The Breeder Owner Bonus Scheme (BOBS) is a NSW incentive scheme designed to reward owners for racing horses in NSW by providing ADDITIONAL prize money to owners. In the 2014/15 season, over $12 million of BOBS bonuses were awarded. Progeny of BOBS stallions standing in NSW are eligible for the scheme, and are paid up by their owner.

It costs the non-profit horse welfare program about $8000 to retrain each horse so it is suitable for sports like dressage or polo and for a select few, a life as a police horse. Each retrained horse is then sold for about $5000. Mr Brodie's salary is paid for by Racing NSW as part of its contribution to the program.
