From 1953 through 1995, Santa Fe Speedway would provide area fans with one of the most versatile racing programs in the county. In addition to stock car races, they hosted sprint car races, big car races, midget races, the AMA national motorcycle series, figure 8 racing, enduros, demolition derbies and power puffs.

This was pro racing. Motorcycle racing came to Santa Fe in 1953. The Maywood Mustangs, a local AMA motorcycle club, began to promote races after the big war at Cole Linze’s baseball diamond. This stadium was located off U.S. 66 (Ogden Avenue) only a few miles from Santa Fe, southwest of Chicago.

It was torn down in 1999 in order to build an upscale residential neighborhood. The track is not visible in Google Maps, but it can be seen in Google Earth's historical imagery (1993 and 1998).
