LGRA – Straight Racing – ISWS - Silken Windhound

Silken Windhound racing originated with ISWS-administered straight and oval racing programs that followed the rules of the national racing associations in which we now participate. In 2005, ISWS implemented a straight racing program for Silkens based on the rules of the Large Gazehound Racing Association (LGRA).

Silken Windhounds are graceful, medium-sized Sighthounds with silky coats of moderate length. They have many coat colors and markings ranging from red to silver, brindled to spotted. Silkens are affectionate and playful. They do well in families with children and can be trained to live with smaller household pets.

Racing & Lure Coursing Until very recently there has not been much opportunity to race our Silken Windhounds, however since 2014 we have competed in Straight Flat Racing, Straight Hill Racing and on the Oval Track. In 2015 the BSFA invited Silken's to join in the last 3 meets of the year, holding a mini league over these final events.
