    The slapper bars were introduced in 1967 specifically for the Camaros with single leaf springs. Camaros had terrible wheel hop until they were equipped with slapper bars. My '69 Firebird 400 had multiple leaf springs with factory control arms and did not need slapper bars to handle the extra torque of the 400 CI Pontiac engine. Jimbo17

    by csvette3023 » Wed Jun 14, 2006 8:41 pm. I used to use large washers under the snubbers to preload . I've also seen people take the snubbers off and use bolts in place. Probably not good on the street. If the car launches to the right, preload the right side. I ran 0 gap with drivers weight in car and preloaded the rt rear.
