    VENUES - The Soling is raced in numerous countries around the world. Its quickness, maneuverability, and tactical effectiveness suit it ideally for smooth-water lake and bay sailing. Although most of its active fleets are located on such waters, major championships are typically conducted at sea where its heavy weather abilities are best tested.

    Designed by Norwegian Jan Linge for the Olympics, the Soling is a fast, non sinkable, 27 foot, one ton, International One Design, racing keel-boat, that is sailed by a crew of three (with no weight limit) which can be towed by a car. Class rules allow droop hiking. The Soling is about the same length as a J80 but only 75% of its weight.

    Soling Racing is held in Boston’s Inner Harbor so teams can rig and be at the racing area in less than 30 minutes. Soling Racing Fall Series To purchase a boat (three spots), the skipper needs a 7-day membership or greater and can fill the remaining two spots with members or non members. Crew substitutions can be made week to week as needed.
