    The Texas Racing Commission on Thursday voted by a 5 to 4 margin to repeal rules for historical racing at Texas racetracks. The vote seemingly ends a drawn-out ordeal dating back to 2014 when the TRC authorized the form of pari-mutuel wagering that has proven to be popular and successful in other states.

    Generally, any person who works on the grounds of a pari-mutuel racetrack or who tries to make a living through pari-mutuel racing in Texas must be licensed by the Commission.     The Texas Racing Commission approved race dates for 2022 at its Tuesday meeting. The Texas Thoroughbred circuit will begin at Sam Houston in January, with racing Thursdays through Saturdays beginning Jan. 6. The meeting at Sam Houston will also include select Wednesday and Sunday cards. That meet includes 50 dates and will run through April 9.
