    In the end we decided to stick with a 280 kit, the reason for this was simple: Doing a 290 kit made the piston too heavy. Keeping the kit a 280 gave us a piston weight that is 8 grams heavier than stock. If we had gone with a 290 the piston came in at 28 grams heavier which you could feel in the higher RPM's.

The performance gains mirror the 290 Athena without the increase in vibration that most 290 users report.

    The 300 kit from thumper racing uses compression ratio that is lower than stock... It revs faster than a 280 kit. The 280 kit has higher compression - this moves power lower in RPM range - but bike loses a little rev. Going to a 300 requires splitting the cases so that they can be bored to accept a larger sleeve.
