Torsen Limited-Slip Differential - Maximum Motorsports

This makes the Torsen differential ideal for use with fixed-mount brake calipers. While it is ideal for street use, autocrossing, and road racing, the Torsen differential is not recommended for drag strip use. The Torsen differentials fit Mustang 8.8" rear-ends, both solid axle and IRS, and are available in 28 spline and 31 spline versions.

Torsen Differentials, while not ideal for drag racing, are practical for road racing. These differentials complement a well-balanced suspension package, resulting in ideal traction for a vehicle. Of note is that the Torsen Differential can sense …

Torsen Differential. $ 1,906.23 $ 1,585.98. – Used in GM 4T65E Racing’s FWD drag racing programs. – Tested to 900+ HP. – In drag-race style, straight-line acceleration runs, this results in a close to ideal 50/50 power split to both drive wheels. – In cornering, while accelerating out of a turn, the Torsen biases power to the outside wheel, reducing inside-wheel spin.

Torsen diffs are designed for power down in the turn. Unfortunately they are not a good drag diff. MANY have died drag racing. I have stopped going to the 1/4 mile because of this.

Kaaz vs Torsen Differentials - Magnus Motorsports

    https://www.magnusmotorsports.com/kaaz-vs-torsen-differentials/
Here’s why Torsen LSD’s suck. For you road racer types, as soon as you get one wheel off the ground the Torsen becomes an open differential, in order for it to work both wheels must have complete contact with the ground. When your hanging 1.1g corners and a wheel lifts under power you instantly have no power. That sucks real bad.

Switching out Torsen for something more drag friendly

Bought a track pack car with the Torsen diff and did not fully research how that would work with drag racing. I have read plenty of horror stories and am looking to replace with something better suited for sticky tire launches at the track before catastrophic failure. Car will be street driven and see some sort of F/I this winter.

Torsen vs standard Traction lok LSD differential pros and cons?

"As Derek said above, the Torsen sends the power to the wheel with more traction. To further clarify, say if you wheel hop the left tire, the power will shift to the right, breaking it loose, and back and forth, affecting straight line control. It …

Differential question - Torsen vs Trac-Lok - Factory Five Racing …

The Torsen did make a very noticeable difference for Auto X but really doesn't feel any different in regular street use or for drag racing. The helical gears in the Torsen are proably not as strong as the spider gears in a regular rear end but I think as long as you aren't running full drag slicks and launching at high rpm it should be fine.

Are Ranger Torsen differentials good for performance applications?

kevinatfms. IIRC, the bias ratio of the Torsen out of the Ranger is much lower 2:1 than the T2-R out of the newer mustangs. Still does the same job and is just as prone to destroying itself on drag strip use. The initial units had case flexing and caused the worm gears to chew themselves apart.
