Torsen Limited-Slip Differential - Maximum Motorsports

This makes the Torsen differential ideal for use with fixed-mount brake calipers. While it is ideal for street use, autocrossing, and road racing, the Torsen differential is not recommended for drag strip use. The Torsen differentials fit Mustang 8.8" rear-ends, both solid axle and IRS, and are available in 28 spline and 31 spline versions.

Torsen Differential questions - TrackMustangsOnline.com

The Torsen is a gear driven torque sensing torque biasing differential The torque bias on the boss is 2.7 to 1 It does not lock In order for it to send more torque from one wheel to another there must be some traction available to both wheels Otherwise, it will behave like an open diff (0 torque at one wheel x 2.7 = 0 torque bias) Jan 18, 2014 #3

Kaaz vs Torsen Differentials - Magnus Motorsports

    https://www.magnusmotorsports.com/kaaz-vs-torsen-differentials/
For you road racer types, as soon as you get one wheel off the ground the Torsen becomes an open differential, in order for it to work both wheels must have complete contact with the ground. When your hanging 1.1g corners and a wheel lifts under power you instantly have no power. That sucks real bad. The KAAZ clutch type LSD is not like that.

Torsen diffs are designed for power down in the turn. Unfortunately they are not a good drag diff. MANY have died drag racing. I have stopped going to the 1/4 mile because of this. Differential question - Torsen vs Trac-Lok - Factory Five Racing …

The Torsen did make a very noticeable difference for Auto X but really doesn't feel any different in regular street use or for drag racing. The helical gears in the Torsen are proably not as strong as the spider gears in a regular rear end but I think as long as you aren't running full drag slicks and launching at high rpm it should be fine.

Switching out Torsen for something more drag friendly

The Truetrac is the same style differential as the Torsen. Gear type diff, not ideal for drag racing. But it'll be better than the Torsen. Nov 26, 2015 #7 M Mark Aubele Member

Torsen vs standard Traction lok LSD differential pros and …

    https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/torsen-vs-standard-traction-lok-lsd-differential-pros-and-cons.110716/
Cons of the Torsen - more fragile (although in the Mustang they are very tough), less forgiving especially at low speed Pros of the Clutch LSD - more forgiving at all speeds but especially at low speeds, smoother Cons of the Clutch LSD - Clutches wear out and need replacement, more heat build up due to clutch pack friction=more prone to limp mode
