Originally a dog racing track known as Manzanita Park, It was converted to a 1/4 mile dirt stock car track in 1951, The first race meeting was held on the 25th of August 1951. In 1954 Manzanita had added a 1/2 mile dirt circuit to the venue and opened the new track with a 25 hour marathon race.

Manzanita Speedway opened in 1951, converted from a dog track. The 1/4 mile dirt oval ran from 1951 to 8/18/1985. The 1/2 mile dirt oval opened 11/21/1954. A 1/3 mile dirt oval opened on 5/24/1985. A 1/3 mile dirt figure 8 operated in the 1980s. The modern name was adapted in 1965.
