All FIS and USSA U16 races must employ poles that stand a minimum of 1800mm above the snow surface. In the U.S. there are also 60 inch (152cm) poles. These are used for U14 and younger events with FIS type B 25 to 28.9 mm shaft diameter. The shorter 54 inch (137cm) poles have been phased out for use in competition.
