    I'm no racing axe expert and I don't own one, so take my opinion for what it's worth. Racing axes are used on soft wood without knots. The edges are thin to penetrate deep and take huge chips. I'm no stranger to making huge chips. I like my edges reasonably thin as well. On a working axe I like some meat behind my edge for support.
