There is an automated camshaft grinding company on the west side of Michigan that grinds most of these "white box" cams. Melling, Elgin, Summit,Jegs etc. Cores go in, finished camshafts ship out. Only difference is the printing or sticker on the white box. They are sold under dozens of names. The same camshaft can be advertised with different specs.

Actually that makes them probably less prone to failure than other, newer cams. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you probably shouldn't bad-mouth a product that you've never used before. Summit cams aren't even made by summit, they're made by a contracting company who grinds cams for a lot of big name guys, too. K

SUM-162112 came with valve springs intended for use with a flat tappet camshaft. The springs will allow 0.525 in. max valve lift. Note: These heads will also have “Summit” cast under the valve covers. If it says “Summit Racing Equipment” on the end, there are 2 possibilities. The way to tell is to look at the intake manifold mounting bolts.
