Stear clear of Competition Products and cylinder heads. Jegs used to sell Canfield heads, but there was no "affiliation" other than they sold the Canfield casting as "their" head. NO different than BMF or anyone else using the Canfield casting. As far as the "best" SBC head, it's really a matter of preference more than anything.

Performance Drag Racing Heads - Engine Builder Magazine

For all-out drag racing, cylinder heads that deliver big airflow numbers are usually the best. But for street/strip engines, bigger isn’t necessarily better. In fact, it may be counterproductive for every day driveability. In theory, the more air a set of heads flows in cubic feet per minute (cfm), the more power they help the engine to make.

canfield makes a nice head ! sure you could use a bit larger head ,but those heads you have are capable of approx 600hp . If anything ,have them ported or cnc'ed . I personally think the heads are borderline ,if you want new heads the best are afr according to the majority ! Save Reply fasteddie Premium Member Joined Jan 10, 2007 3,532 Posts

I have some Jeg's 220 heads (Canfield 220s) on my 350 chevy in my Malibu. It seems like it runs good if the weather would cooperate I would find out exactly how good. They have been ported by me and flow 320cfm on intake and 244cfm on exhaust. I like the heads but if I had to buy a set of heads these wouldn't be on the top of my list.
