The factory shock will rebound much more than a shaw. The best set-up for 300' is to run struts at both ends. I have been running fox floats on the front and the factory rear shock on both 300' and hillshooting without issues. Probably pick up some decent improvement going to a rear strut though. On the hill, it depends on the surface.

The solution is to install lowering links, which (for this bike) are available for lowering 2 inches and 4 inches. A 4 inch drop might be okay for a "pure" drag racing bike with turbo or nitrous or whatever, but for something "streetable" ... there is no way to do that without causing major suspension geometry problems.
