    I do not believe racing is cruel. I think greyhounds run because it is in their very DNA to run. If a dog is does not show an inclination towards racing they get retired early, and head to one of the many, many adoption groups, and on to our couches.

    Greyhounds are a working breed under these circumstances. A lot of people decry the harsh treatment, but they are exposed to far less danger than police or guard dogs, for example. Greyhounds are bred to run, so it makes total sense that greyhound racing is the place to do it.
